It's about time.....

So it's been a little while since I updated this thing. I've not had that much to write about til now.

I have a new JOB! I will be moving to Texas in mid-July to begin work as an Assistant Band Director at Lopez High School in Brownsville, TX. I will be one of 4 directors there and my focus will be low brass and jazz band as well as team teaching the marching band and concert bands. This is a great program whose marching band makes Texas State Competition routinely and whose top concert band is one of the best in the state. They were named the 2004 Texas State Honor Band, in fact, and they've been runner-up for that honor a couple more times recently. And did I mention......it's 20 minutes from South Padre and the Gulf of Mexico. It's also on the Mexican border and I'm told the city of Matamoros on the Mexican side, is a pretty cool place to hang out. I think I'm gonna like this gig. (Did I mention that it pays well?)

Right now, I'm trying to finish up the last of the marching band shows I'm arranging this year and get all my loose ends tied up before I move down to Texas. Not to mention planning said move.....it's a 24 hour drive from here in Ottawa. Probably 21+ from the storage unit where all my stuff is locked up. Not sure how I'm gonna pull that one off yet. We'll see.
